LOS ANGELES (Jan. 19, 2023) –SQUARE ENIX® is excited to share that DRAGON QUEST MONSTERS: The Dark Prince, the latest role-playing game in the DRAGON QUEST MONSTERS series, has officially shipped 1 million units globally since it’s successful launch exclusively for Nintendo Switch™, at retail and digitally via the Nintendo® eShop. This exciting milestone follows the DRAGON QUEST MONSTERS series’ recent celebration of its 25th anniversary since the release of the first game within the franchise, DRAGON QUEST MONSTERS: Terry’s Wonderland.
Journeying through the fantastical world of Nadiria, DRAGON QUEST MONSTERS: The Dark Prince takes players on a role-playing adventure with Psaro, the antagonist from DRAGON QUEST IV: Chapters of the Chosen. Play as Psaro and become a Monster Wrangler, recruiting, training, and fighting alongside over 500 unique monsters to create an army for battle to become the Master of Monsterkind. The game also features a newly evolved and evermore intuitive synthesis system, offering newcomers and fans of the DRAGON QUEST MONSTERS series the chance to discover new monster combinations with their own innate talents. Immerse in strategic battles with a team of eight monsters in the main storyline or online against other Monster Wranglers from around the world in a variety of online battle modes.
In celebration of this milestone, all DRAGON QUEST MONSTERS: The Dark Prince players will receive a free “Mighty Meat Platter Set” as thank you for their support. The “Mighty Meat Platter Set” will be available to download for free in the Nintendo eShop on Feb. 1 at 9am PT/5pm GMT. Once downloaded, the items included in the set will be automatically added to player’s inventory upon restarting the game.
